The assignment deadline is getting closer and closer by the hour, at the moment, with a long weekend and lack of sleep, trying to get most of my work done, but I would like to share the project concept. Which is...

Collision.

Picture for inspiration.

This concept is about one object striking another object in some force, for example, a car and a car have a big accident. I chose this concept because it closely relates to the "Deaf" World and the "Hearing " World, as the deaf world been fighting the hearing world for many years or even colliding into them, some successful and some not so successful.

At least the best thing about this concept, it is based on my personal experiences and frustrations through my self or seeing other things happen. Therefore my passion comes from my different kind of desires and goals in life, trying to make a difference within the community in the United Kingdom.

A shot from the video.

Starting with the long weekend, I got to spend time with one of my closest friends, Tom. And I had the chance to have a long chat with him, but I knew I had made a few mistakes along the process, for example, lack of knowledge using a cinema camera, e.g. colour and the amount of noise in one video as well. Plus lighting is another issue, and there wasn't enough bright light. Therefore, the film noise was there, and the iso went high automatically. Of course, I was lucky with premiere pro as it had colour correction within the software, even using the matching colour helped so much when I was trying got get a balance of the footage of each file.

Another different angled shot.

During that time, I did try to do a few shots, but it made me realise I would need two or more cameras set up at once, which could give more materials to experiment in premiere.

Second angled shot.

As part of the little video, I thought it would be nice to include the "Stencil" Look. I added the threshold to the introduction sequence, which looks reasonable, because it links back to the theme, collision because it shows different shapes and objects that looked interesting. But I have struggled to get it into the frame rate I would've wanted, at least its something I need to examine and research more about it, as I found out the frame rate was quicker, but the sound was out of sync, so I decided to leave the original footage alone instead.

Adding threshold to the beginning sequence. Which does give a little stencil theme.

Secondly, the sound quality is outstanding, and I fell in love with the Canon EOS C100, and it the only camera that I dreamed of owning one day. But I did blend the two different cameras that I had in disposal: the C100 and my dlsr. I could dramatically tell the difference between the two, as the dlsr had better quality footage in comparison to the other. However, the Canon C100 is for filming a longer time than the dlsr, and why I have a better preference.

Footage filmed on the DSLR, could tell the film quality is in comparison to the other photos which has been filmed on the Canon C100.

Thirdly during my process of editing, I have learned a few new things. One of them is somehow getting my title inverted within the beginning sequence and it incredibly went well with the opening sequence which make sit more unique. I have also started working on open captions as part of the practice process, it was quite challenging as in some scenes there is a clash of two sounds, so I do miss out over the audio.

Experimenting with the title with "Difference" Blend mode on Premiere.

Looking back, I have decided to take note for next time as I would need better lighting, better set up of cameras, a better venue, also better understanding of using the microphone to get a better quality of sound within the video.

From what I have learnt, is that I particularly enjoyed filming the moments naturally. For next time, I do this sort of thing with either my or anybody else. I would need to shoot more footage, to have more things to play within Premiere Pro. Also, I love unexpected outcomes which does make things more exciting.

On my overall review, I have taken note that I would need to learn more about different software and techniques. Learn more about the camera more, to get the right colours and footage ready, even look into different kind of camera shots like close-ups onto the hands as I recognised that in the video that we gesture a lot. A better set up for sound like microphone placement. A better venue, hopefully somewhere more relaxed environment e.g. Public House, and of course one last thing, practice doing natural interview without forcing the questions, that needs to be figured out when talking to other different deaf people if I go that direction.

God Bless
